Primary Rate Interface (PRI)
Description & Capabilities

ISDN PRI provides direct connectivity to support voice, data, image, and video communications on a single digital facility. Comprised of a central office trunk port connected to your location via a DS1 (1.544 Mbps) facility, ISDN PRI offers twenty-three 64 Kbps channels for user information and a single 64 Kbps channel for "out of band" signaling and control functions.

• The ability to bundle individual channels to provide higher speeds for bandwidth-intensive applications.
• Fast, flexible access to services such as direct inward and outward dialing, WATS, Toll-Free Service, and circuit-switched data to support PBX users and call centers.
• The Call-by-Call Service Selection and Individual Calling Line Identification capabilities.

Basic Rate Interface (BRI)
Description & Capabilities

ISDN BRI offers improved digital connections using two 64 Kbps channels and one 16 Kbps channel for signaling.

• Fast call setup
• Multiple line appearances
• Caller ID
• Message waiting
• The ability to bundle the two users channels to obtain a single, higher-speed 128 Kbps channel for faster data transfers or Internet access.
• When not in use for signaling, the idle 16 Kbps control channel can be used to access email.
